Ripley Park Improvements

Amenities at Ripley City Park in Ripley, TN, include tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic pavilions, a pool and public bathrooms. The park also features a walking track and stage for performances and events. However, the stage is located away from the pool and existing bathrooms.

To accommodate patrons, the City of Ripley contracted with ABES Contracting as the prime to install a pre-manufactured bathroom building. The project included a new parking lot with ADA compliant spaces as well as an ADA complaint sidewalk to the new bathroom building. Work also included adding a new sidewalk from the new parking lot to the existing stage.

The construction included asphalt paving and striping, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalks and handicapped parking spaces, bollards and trash cans, sanitary sewer service, water service, erosion control, fine grading and sod, electrical and the pre-manufactured bathroom. ABES Contracting worked with the designer and the City to address challenges related to the installation of the pre-manufactured bathroom, including the challenges of conflicts with overhead power lines and access for the delivery trucks and crane to deliver, unload, and install the building.

The project also included running 450’ of electrical service and water service from the existing stage to the new bathroom building as well as installing a sanitary sewer service line that connected into an existing manhole.
