Project – Rhodes at Sherwood Streetscape

Rhodes at Sherwood Streetscape

This City of Memphis project enhanced pedestrian safety and helped middle school students cross Rhodes Avenue in Memphis. The project included the installation of two new curb ramps and a 20-foot-wide crosswalk that is 60 feet long. ABES Contracting created a new pedestrian refuge through the installation of 650 feet of new curb and gutter in the middle of Rhodes Avenue. In addition to the demolition and concrete work required, this construction project also included temporary traffic control, erosion control, roadway striping and signage, landscaping and four school crossing signals complete with signs and a rectangular rapid flashing beacon.
